Where to find us locally in 2010
The 2010 season is now well on its way to seeing a vast
improvement over the last few years with some models delivery
times stretching into the middle of the year. With the promise of a tropical summer and and vastly
improved economy, our thoughts are already wondering off to
dreams of getting away from it all and bobbing around on our
boats with 30°+ climate (fingers crossed). So if your
considering a boat this year why not come along to one of our
locally held events to see what Orkney has to offer?
2010 see's us continue the tradition of supporting
our local dealerships around the country and the following list
is where you would be very welcome to come along and sample an
Orkney (if you haven't already had the pleasure) first
hand. Alternatively please don't hesitate to contact your local
dealership as between dates they are always happy to help. Their
numbers can be obtained by calling (01243) 551456

The biggest news in the History of
Orkney Boats After 10 years of our very successful
Pilothouse 24 being the flagship of the Orkney fleet, we can
reveal that its about to get a bigger brother.
The Orkney 27 due to be on sale in mid/late next year and
will add to the already highly regarded Pilothouse range.
Offered in either a long wheelhouse with up to 4 berth and short
wheelhouse option with more deck space (the long wheelhouse
option is shown) it will appeal across the board from people who
want to cruise, fish or both. With a flat floor and a
walk-through transom on both models (features that already been
well received) this already set to become an iconic Orkney Boat. |
|
Although preliminary information is sparse more is coming all
the time so ring or come and visit our factory for more details
as build slots likely to be taken early to ensure delivery for

ABP choose Orkney Last
month Orkney Boats delivered a custom built Orkney Pilothouse 20
to their Edinburgh based dealers, Bosuns Locker, for a key
commercial customer in Scotland.
The Association of British Ports based in Troon Scotland, chose the
Orkney Pilothouse with some additions to perform day to day
tasks including towage and emergency pilot work as their latest
acquisition. Fitted with Heavy Duty 'D' section fendering there
was little else altered on the boat just going to show how
robustly built the Orkney's are to start with.

An Orkney shaft drive after 25 years
Earlier this year we finished a boat with a type of propulsion
not fitted by us for the last 25 years, shaft drive.
Built for a local boat builder/yard, (Northshore Yachts of
Itchenor). Orkney produced a shaft driven 592, one of our new
generation 19 footers. Based on a standard boat with a
countersunk tunnel in the hull to reduce the operation depth and
fitted with a 29hp Yanmar, the boat produced a top speed of
9.5knots. However, in this case the boat was designed as a work
boat to pull boats around and ferry customers and yard staff,
but for other applications more speed is possible. |
|
The last time we supplied a shaft drive boat we based it on two
Orkney Fastliner 16, boats that are still in use today although
they were built over 25years ago! Although the 592 shaft drive
version is not in main production, it is available as a
custom build and depending on interest may be launched as a new
range in our already impressive line-up.
For further information on what we could offer please contact
your nearest dealer. |
